King Von was a well-known Chicago rapper renowned for his gritty storytelling and ability to capture the reality of street life.

King Von was born on August 9th, 1994 in Chicago (the city and county seat of Cook County, Illinois, United States). On November 6th, 2020 in Atlanta (the capital city of Georgia, USA) at the age of 26.

He was an American rapper and songwriter signed to Lil Durk’s Only The Family label.

He was shot and killed during an altercation outside an Atlanta club early Friday morning. The shooting allegedly occurred around 3:20 a.m. and involved three people, including two off-duty police officers who were engaged in the shootout.

Raised in Chicago

King Von, also known as Dayvon Bennett, was raised in the violent O Block neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side. His music style was heavily influenced by Chief Keef, Lil Durk and other members of the local rap scene.

His early raps were written without drums, which he credits as shaping his unique flow. While in prison, he wrote intricate narratives that would become integral elements of his lyricism over time.

He went on to release two mixtapes and his debut studio album, Welcome to O’Block. Both projects demonstrated his ability to craft intricate and poignant tales.

Signed to Lil Durk’s Only The Family label

Lil Durk founded his own label, Only The Family (OTF), in 2010 after making a name for himself with his mixtapes. Over time, OTF evolved into an esteemed collective of young rappers.

The OTF collective’s latest release, Loyal Bros, showcases their dedication through powerful street anthems and touching rap ballads. Featuring appearances from Memo600, Booka600, NLE Choppa, Tee Grizzley and others, the album also pays homage to King Von who passed away in November 2020.

Released his first single “Crazy Story” in 2017

Released his first studio album “Welcome to O’Block” in October 2020

King Von’s debut album “Welcome to O-Block” was released in October 2020 and serves as a reflection on his life and career in hip-hop music.

Chopsquad DJ, Tay Keith, Wheezy, Hitmaka and Will-A-Fool produced the 16-track LP which also features musical contributions from Polo G, Lil Durk, Prince Dre, Dreezy and Fivio Foreign.
